Registered office
This is the Texas street address where the registered agent can be personally served during normal business hours. It is not necessarily the entity's principal place of business. The SOS says it cannot be solely a mailbox or telephone-answering service.
Agent consent and address permission matter. Do not take an address from this website and place it in a filing before receiving the required authorization for your entity.
Mailing address
The SOS Form 205 instructions describe an initial mailing address for Comptroller tax correspondence. That address can be a street address or P.O. box. A permission to use our registered office does not automatically authorize general mail, tax-mail, package, bank-account or marketplace-address use.
Review address-use permission and official-mail handling for the exact scope of service. Ask support before using an address in a role not clearly covered.
Principal business location and virtual office
A principal office describes a different role from a statutory agent address. A virtual-office or mailing arrangement can also have distinct terms and operational requirements. Do not describe the agent's office as your staffed customer location merely because an address appears in a filing.
Google Business Profile eligibility is separate from state filing rules. This guide does not authorize a customer to create a business listing at our office, and it does not claim that every virtual-office arrangement qualifies for a profile.
Before entering an address
- Identify the exact field and its purpose.
- Check the state form's instructions.
- Obtain permission from the address provider for that use.
- Confirm where important correspondence will be delivered.
- Keep the authorization and service documents with company records.
If changing the registered office, follow the Form 401 process. Do not assume a customer-support email or service renewal updates the state record automatically.
